This is a standard raw tuna (poke) salad served in most Hawaiian homes. Although unconventional, it is sure to please the more adventurous seafood lovers. Be sure to use fresh tuna for the very best flavor, although fresh frozen tuna will produce acceptable results.

Artichoke and Crab Spread

Submitted by: Joanne
I bought a similar spread at the grocery store a while back, and I thought that I could do it better and cheaper myself. You can use imitation crab, instead of the real thing if you like. I use cooked and frozen artichoke hearts or you can buy fresh artichokes, and cook the hearts up yourself.

A tasty flavorful appetizer, or great as a meal that uses lots of wonderful Asian flavors! You can also easily substitute for the ingredients and use leftovers too such as corn instead of onions, leftover salmon (BBQ'd, broiled or baked) instead of fresh or canned - and they still turn out great! A plus crowd pleaser!

Avocado pears, tinned Pacific Pilchards (in brine) or tinned herring fillets (in oil) and stuffed olives - in combination, they will provide you with a very healthy, nutritious, and tasty snack. It's highly likely that if you serve this as a dinner starter, you will be asked 'How did you make this?'

Shrimp is marinated in lime juice to cook, then mixed with tomato, cilantro, onion and a special sauce. You can save a couple of whole shrimps to dangle on the edge of the tumbler for a special presentation. The lime and the cilantro are the key, and of course fresh shrimp.
