Best flavor of any salmon or fish cake. The buttery onions are wonderful in this. I like that there is no dill. I do not like dill. My canned salmon didn't have 3/4 cup of liquid in it - had about 1/2 cup. I had to add more cracker crumbs as it was still too much liquid. I have no intention of changing much about this recipe but will tinker with the liquid a little. I think I will try it with one egg and only one tbsp. of butter when sauteing the onion. I did use oil instead of shortening. If I have time, I like to put fish patty mixtures in the frig for about 30 minutes before I make the patties. Makes it easier to form the patties. I tried the lemon sauce from this site that other reviewers recommend, but for my household we voted that tarter sauce is better with the patties. But try the Lemon Sauce for Salmon Patties as it makes a nice change and is so simple to make.

These were really good. I took the advice of others and added some dried dill weed. I did make a mistake and processed the salmon in my cuisinart, I think it would be better flaked. I also used two eggs but I think others might be right that one would be sufficient as my husband thought they were too mushy inside. I also used a sauce for them from the Grilled Salmon Fillets with a Lemon, Taragon and Garlic sauce from this site. The sauce is fantastic and really enhances the dish.

This is the only recipe I use for salmon patties! I usually don't have fresh parsley on hand, so I use dried and it always comes out just fine. I also took some of the other posters advice and tap a little bit of 'Old Bay' seasoning over the patties before I fry them. To make it a little more 'Kid Friendly' I crush up about a 1/4 cup of the colored goldfish crackers and put them in with the other crackers to coat - my kids say that they have "sprinkles" that way, and it tastes about the same. I also serve it with the Salmon Patty Sauce from this site and it makes it even more delicious.

Better than the ones I'm used to making. My daughter asked me if they were crab cakes. So... thumbs up.

This is the basic recipe I use whenever I need to bring an item to a party and its always a hit! Instead of using the reserved salmon juice I just juice a lemon, it really brings out the flavor of the dill and parsley. *I also add a dash of cheyenne pepper for kick.

Delicious!! I used all the liquid that was in the can, I had maybe a bit less than half a cup; I found it to be just enough liquid. The patties were crispy on the outside and nice & moist inside - perfect! However next time I might replace that liquid with plain canola oil because the patties were a tad salty (but nothing drastic). I served them with white rice, sliced tomatoes & a mayonnaise/yogurt/garlic/ketchup sauce. YUM!

We loved this recipe. I purchased canned salmon from Costo, deboned and looking like tuna. I added a few more herbs and spices and cut back on the bread crumbs. They fry up beautifully and I used canola oil. whipped up a tartar sauce recipe from this site ...yummm!

My husband said it's even better than what his mom made..woo hoo... I used dijon mustard, dried parsley as I do not have the fresh ones. Add chopped garlic as some review said. And bake them rather than fried. Turned out to be really moist and tasty. We are all honey mustard fan so I whipped my homemade honey mustard and we just crave for more. Great recipe..

This came out very well, I cooked some salmon and then flaked it for this recipe instead of using canned. Then I took the patties and made them into sandwiches.

This is the best Salmon Patty recipe I have ever used. I also made the lemon sauce that is on this site which was excellent.

These salmon patties are really good. I followed recipe exactly. My husband is not a fan of salmon patties and he had three of them. They are excellent topped with lemon sauce for salmon cakes which another review suggested. Thanks for a great recipe!

Very good salmon patties. I added a clove of minced garlic to the onion mixture and I used leftover sockeye salmon. Will definitely do this one again.

These were EXCELLENT! The BEST salmon patties I've had.. Although I did make some changes! First, there is not 3/4 cup of juice in the can of salmon, but that was ok because even with the little bit there was made it too moist and I ended up adding the whole 2/3 cup of cracker crumbs to the mix and just crushed up some more for coating. Second, I didn't have fresh parsley so I used the dried. And Third, I took advise from other reviewers and added 1 tsp. of dill weed. Like I said, "these were FANTASTIC!" I will definitely make again!!

I had never tried salmon patties but I love salmon and love crab cakes so I decided to give them a try. What a winner! I used "Its a Dilly" from McCormick in the mix with and that worked well to give them a little more flavor. I also used dried minced onion instead of fresh, the salmon juice and egg reconstituted them fine. I used mayo, more "Dilly" and lemon juice to make a good sauce. Served them in naan bread with lettuce/tom, just wonderful!
