Others of us might be more keen on just beaching ourselves in a lounge chair and popping the top on a cold beverage. To each her own. The first rule of the beach is no harshin' anyone else's mellow! Add these details to kick your party into surf mode.

If you can get hold of a surfboard, make it the centerpiece of your party. No surfboard? Fashion one out of foam core or cardboard.
Hang signs saying "Locals Only," "Surf Shack," "Hang Ten," "Surfer Girls Rule," and so on. You can find ready-made surf décor online.
Coat bare noses with neon-colored zinc oxide.
Hand out puka shell necklaces.
Award prizes for best boardshorts, coolest surfer print tee shirt, or most indestructible Annette Funicello hair-do.
For mega style points, rent a vintage woodie station wagon and park it in your driveway.
