San Diego, California

Sitting in the southwest corner of the state, San Diego is where California began, originally claimed in the name of Spain by Portuguese explorer Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo. With an average annual temperature of just over 70 degrees, everyday is a good day for a trip to the beach or a farmer’s market. The beaches are everywhere and you are likely to find a market somewhere just about any day of the week—and year-round, no less. The city’s restaurants offer everything from casual takeout to four-star dining, with the fish taco as the local favorite. You haven’t truly experienced eating in San Diego if you haven’t enjoyed one of their deep fried, battered fish wrapped in a corn tortilla with cabbage and sauce.

Chili Mac Casserole

Reviewed on Nov. 18, 2008 by TRIPLEJ28
This was an easy, good homey dish. After reading other reviews i too added more cumin and chili powder, plus a few dashes of tabasco and some lemon juice, which I have found brightens anything made with tomato. I stirred about 2 c cheese into the whole mixture, and then topped it with more cheese before baking. It came out like a spicy mac and cheese.

Chocolate Cookie Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed on Nov. 18, 2008 by TRICIA JAEGER
I made this to frost "Butter Cake" from this site. I had to add more milk/cream to make it more of a frosting consitancy. This cake was one layer of a 9x9 so if you have a bigger cake to frost double the recipe.

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Muffins

Mmmmm....yum! I really like these but I also love chocolate chip pancakes. I'd probably eat anything with chocolate chips and if I can get them in my breakfast what could be better?
