Chocolate Pound Cake III

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2008
This cake was delicious! I actually stuffed it up (I think...) and it still turned out incredibly tasty! You can't get buttermilk where I lived so I used a recipe for a buttermilk recipe I found online. The cake was a bit soft and it was more like a brownie inside but everyone really liked it! Next time I make this I will probably do the same thing. Thanks for the great recipe!!

Banana Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2008
Soft cakey textured cookies and it made so many! Great to take along to the kid's playgroup for all to share. I replaced 1/2 cup of the oatmeal with 1/2 cup dessicated coconut. I deleted the cinnamon and cloves altogether and replaced the vanilla essence with coconut essence. That's the beauty of this recipe...chop and change to your heart's content!

Steak Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2008
This was great. I added a frozen puff pastry layer to the bottom and used for the gravy one of those mixes you use such as, "Beef & Onions or Beef and Red wine etc". I added diced frozen veg and some layers of cheese under the pastry lid. Thanks.

Deep Dish Brownies

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2008
These were great! I followed Mommy from Seattle's advice and they were sooo chewy, rich and fudgey. I used 2 large eggs, no baking powder, added 1/2 cup chocolate chips and 1/4 cup of walnuts just crumbled up by hand. I frosted them with chocolate frosting from this site. They are so rich with this added, but droooooooolllllll..mmmmm.....lol

Fantastic! I didn't cream the butter at first so I needed a large bowl at the end. lol. Excellent frosting, seriously can't go wrong with this one.

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2008
These were perfect! Crunchy edges, chewy insides. I actually put in 1/4 cup LESS choc chips because it would have been overkill. This recipe made 13 big cookies (each measuring 4 inches across (10cms). It was handy to literally measure the dough in the 1/4 cup measure then turn out onto the sheet with a gentle pat down to keep them nicely rounded and all the same size. This one's a keeper!

Barbecued Beef

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2008
Oh so good! I halved the recipe and out of necessity had to use soy sauce instead of worcestershire so I reduced the salt. I also added a teaspoon of good old Australian Vegemite (concentrated yeast extract). Many Aussies use it on baked roast meats as it adds a real zing. This was great on fresh baguettes with fried onions, accompanied with potato salad and a tall pitcher of iced tea.

Heavenly White Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2008
I agree with other reviewers about the need for a touch more milk to the batter. The cake was a little dry in my opinion so extra milk will likely fix that. I made this in my brand new 10x15 inch baking pan and cut the whole thing into a number 4 shape for my daughter's birthday party. She loved it!
